Looking for a place to stay while touring central Italy on vacation or while shopping for a house? You may want to consider lovely and comfortable, Podere Pescia your temporary home away from home. Originally, this farmstead was home to two large patriarchal families. In the farm tradition, the farmers and their families lived up stairs and the cows, chickens and rabbits lived downstairs. Today you can choose from 5 newly renovated en-suite guest rooms and one newly renovated self contained apt on two floors. Each one is elegantly furnished in the classic style but with every modern convenience units -- all with en suite tiled baths. The baths are designed with Americans' expectations in mind, so there will be no need to include "roughing it" in your stay here. The whole complex has been restored to very high standards and is an official 'Residenza di Campagna' or 'Country House'. According to Regione dell'Umbria Law, only period villas and farmhouses can be designated as such.
Complimentary breakfast is served in a lovely former stable with an open fireplace and exposed stone walls. This is not your usual hard roll and a coffee. It will typically include coffee, tea, local breads, cornetti (very croissant-like pastries, just easier to spell), marmalade, honey, cheese, salami, ham, eggs boiled or in an omelette, or to order with bacon, cereal, fruit, juice. In other words: real breakfast. By special arrangement, other meals can be prepared there as well for you and your guests.
Details: Set in the open countryside, beautiful and historic Castiglione del Lago and Lake Trasimeno are all part of the view and within an easy bike ride to town. The train station is less than two miles away and Castiglione del Lago itself about two and a half miles. Bicycles can be rented here at Podere Pescia and any sort of assistance made for touring the area. Castiglione del Lago has every service, bars, restaurants, ferryboats to the islands, a castle and a fort with dramatic views of the lake. Montepulciano in Tuscany is only half an hour as is Cortona made famous in "Under the Tuscan Sun". An hour takes you to Siena or Orvieto and two hours by car can find you in either Rome or Florence. Could it be more central? The host, Giancarlo Caponeri, speaks fluent English and is most knowledgeable in all things local especially as it pertains to the housing market. He is the maestro of the renovations performed by Domus and its broker.

Specific Rooms: The rooms vary in price, depending on size, but range from 100 - 115 Euro* a night. The rooms all have television, a safe and coffee makers in them, plus fireplaces and, of course, wonderful baths. The floors are all classic terracotta tiles and overhead are exposed chestnut beams. They are all furnished in individual ways with many antiques, lovely bed linens, and towels.

Olde England is our coziest unit (170 sq ft -- the other units average 300 sq ft) but our most economical. It is on the ground floor with French doors leading to its outdoor seating area. Features twin beds. € 100 euro*/night.

Il Camino is a second floor room reached through an elegant door and internal staircase. Fireplace and like all the other apts, handmade terracotta floors and chestnut beamed ceilings. Features a queen bed. € 115 euro*/night.
Loggia is on the second floor as well with its entry from a classic exterior stone staircase with an outdoor loggia (sitting area) top the stairs. Features a queen bed. € 115 euro*/night.
Torrino another elegant top floor room with all the amenities. And like all the rooms every beam, window and door is of solid, native chestnut. Features twin beds. € 115 euro*/night.
